Samantha Evans

The story of my studio began in England's trains and tubes, where I would sketch strangers during my commute. I wasn’t drawing for perfection. I was drawing to understand people. To notice emotion or see if they would notice if they were getting drawn. To capture the tiny moments that make us beautifully human.

When I returned home to Zimbabwe in 2023, I brought my sketchbooks and paints to a Christmas fair, expecting nothing more than a relaxed creative afternoon. But something unexpected happened, people were drawn to the portraits in a way I hadn’t anticipated. Their reactions of joy, surprise, and nostalgia made me realise that, in a fast and digital world, people are craving something real.

What began as a quiet pastime evolved into Sam Evans Studio, a growing creative team with a shared purpose.

I want to honour the human moments that often disappear in the rush of modern celebrations. I want to meet and chat with your guests. I want to hear their story. Live portraiture allows us to capture not just likeness, but presence. No faces, but still capturing the emotion.

It's my way of slowing time, even if it's just for a minute. Being able to give something tangible for your guests to take home.
